ProsperUs Trainer Application

ProsperUs Detroit supports entrepreneurs with opportunities and capital needed to build businesses, generational wealth, and vibrant neighborhoods.​

We are seeking applications for trainers to deliver a variety of ProsperUs programming, including, entrepreneur training, subject-matter workshops, group technical assistance, and one-on-one coaching. Our trainers facilitate at various community partner organizations throughout Detroit, Hamtramck, Highland Park, Inkster, and other areas in Wayne County!

Training Consultant Eligibility Requirements

ProsperUs will consider applications on a rolling basis with an emphasis on the following criteria:
  • You have a meaningful background in entrepreneurship and proven expertise in small business development with an eagerness to support a variety of business types.
  • You have an understanding of adult-learning techniques and experience implementing those techniques in the classroom and  in one-on-one settings. 
  • You have a personal and professional commitment to intersectional equity, including the dismantling of racism and other forms of oppression that exist in the communities ProsperUs serves, specifically Black, Latinx, Arab, immigrant, and low- to moderate-income communities. 
  • You have knowledge, experience, and credibility within neighborhoods and communities like those that ProsperUs serves. You are familiar with community-based organizations (CBOs), community development financial institutions (CDFIs), and nonprofits the region. 
  • You are a resident and/or business owner in Wayne County.

Compensation for Trainers 

ProsperUs compensates trainers for training sessions, one-on-one sessions, workshops, and other service delivery platforms. Compensation depends on the programs offered and the participants' utilization of services.

Roles and Responsibilities

ProsperUs trainers support the organization and the entrepreneurs we serve in a variety of ways.

Trainer
If selected, the trainer is expected to:
  • Attend all interviews of applicants to assist ProsperUs and the Community Partner in selecting  entrepreneurs for each training cycle in a given neighborhood or community;
  • Utilize the ProsperUs training curriculum that consists of:
    • Ten classroom sessions and lesson plans
    • Up to ten hours of one-on-one support to each entrepreneur
    • A graduation celebration
  • Prepare all necessary classroom materials
  • Schedule and conduct classes, workshops, and one-on-one sessions with entrepreneurs
  • Document attendance and progress for each participating entrepreneur
  • Facilitate a graduation celebration in collaboration with ProsperUs
  • Attend all training sessions, meetings, and convenings required by ProsperUs

Applications for the Spring 2026 cohort will be reviewed starting January 11, 2026.
